ABOUT the games

The “International Children’s Games” are the most important global multi-sport event for children between 12 and 15 years of age that aims to connect young people through sport and also promote friendship, respect and understanding of a world with different perspectives.

This organization, which was born in 1968, is recognized by the International Olympic Committee and is held annually for the Summer Games and every two years for the Winter Games. 55 years after its creation, this event is an extraordinary experience for participants who, in some way, are starting their sporting life in a motivating, relaxed way and with clearer goals for the near future.

The idea arose in 1968 in the city of Celje, currently Slovenia, at the initiative of the Physical Education Professor Metod Klemenc who, based on the Olympic Spirit, looked for a way to bring together athletes from several cities in the first edition. Today, these nine cities continue to participate in the Games but they share with cities from the five continents and more than one hundred countries.
