León receives the baton for the Children’s Games 2024.

The delegation from León won four medals: one gold, one silver, and two bronze.
Leon, Guanajuato. – This Sunday in Daegu, Korea, the delegation from Leon that participated in the Children’s Games received the baton for the city that will host the 56th edition next July 2024, marking the first time they will take place in Latin America.
Accompanied by a group of five young athletes from León, César Flores Amezcua, President of the Board of Directors of the Municipal Commission of Physical Culture and Sports (COMUDE Leon), on behalf of the Mayor Ale Gutierrez and Isaac Piña Valdivia, Director General of COMUDE Leon, received the baton as the new host of the 2024 edition.
In Leon, the venues for this 56th edition will be: the Enrique Fernández Martínez Sports Complex, Punto Verde Club, the Aquatic Center of León, as well as the Domo de la Feria or the Domingo Santana Stadium, where the opening ceremony could take place. Leon represented Mexico in this event with a delegation of 18 athletes and 4 coaches in four disciplines: taekwondo, athletics, swimming, and 3×3 basketball.
In this competition, the Leon delegation won four medals, one gold, one silver, and two bronze; taekwondo contributed two medals, one gold and one bronze. In swimming, Erick Villalpando secured the silver medal in the 50-meter butterfly, and finally, the women’s 3×3 basketball team earned the last bronze medal. It was composed of: Ana Berenice Guillén Granados, Erick Villalpando Frausto, Leonardo Rico Villaseñor, Karla Valeria Curiel Villanueva, Saraí Guadalupe González López, Mildred Johana Alonzo López, Hiram Didier Tovar López, Sebastián Hernández López, David Mateo Romo Rodríguez.
